Class 1a 1000 mile test

We are getting a bunch of rerouted traffic at yard center. A couple of trains are coming in to the yard get another 1000 mile air brake test performed on them or class 1a. They are trying to either make the inbound or the outbound conductor perform the test. The rule reads that it must be completed by a qualified mechanical inspector. Is that just at initial terminal or does it also pertain to performing the test again while in route.

Yes Jeff, depending on train designation, extended haul could apply. However, this would be clearly stated on the BU. Do you remember the IKRG3? It was as a good example. Even though it terminated, it had to be tested prior to switching it out.
