East Clinton Yard

MCHCB is now regularly working / shoving in the East Clinton Yard. The dispatcher is telling the crew to stop short of Route 84 and make the cut at that location. Route 84 is approximately 1.2 miles from the East Clinton switch.

I have chosen to pull the cut up to the switch and NOT the suggested option.

  1. It's a much safer option! Obviously it's safer to shove 6 cars rather than ride nearly three miles over two main line Crossings and a bridge that's unsafe to walk on.

  2. There are 12 + critical rules that will terminate our employment. It doesn't make sense to me to give prolonged time for an observers interpretation.

  3. Since when does the company care about blocking Crossings??? They build 18K trains, we've been told pull up to the signal regardless of Crossings. If it's only increased danger to a conductor they now care about the crossings.

In the meantime I will continue to opt for the much safer option!

It's been one year, and we are still doing this. We all know it won't change until some insane trucker kills one of us. That's all, my brothers and sisters, just give your life or limbs and then it'll change. Until then, build America
