I don't like the fact it's 2 sets of rules. This only allows the carrier to "test" which one works best for them and simply add or subtract turns accordingly. No one has mentioned the carrier STILL controls the boards.

This is the problem. We keep hearing that the Union is fighting for us yet we see no fruits of that labor. agreements voted down and shoved shoved down our throats anyway, arbitration clearly detached from reality and yet dues increase and discipline is redefined as policy instead of agreement. 30 years of interpretation gets thrown out the window in a side letter not voted on, boards are moved to outlying locations to the financial loss of its membership. Its hard to see the fight when our eyes are swollen shut and lip keeps bleeding. Please dont take this reply as a personal attack as the issues are way farther up the chain than local.

Valid point on expenses. I would argue that we all work on budgets even in our personal lives. The focus seems to be going over budget. It's also possible that it would operate under budget. As far as the " no going back" I don't believe that to be accurate. We have dissolved an LCA prior to this. It can be done again. Mr Bakr is exceptional at investigations. I wouldn't ever discount that fact. That does not mean someone else wouldn't be. Mr Bakr does fight for us, I just want the ability to fight for Metra from within Metra.

Mr Vega, I thank you for the comment. In spite of it being against what I want, I do welcome all sides. Point #1 it doesn't more than one person to make a motion. I chose to represent the people who belive in what was asked. Point #2 wanting instant gratification would be an unreasonable ask. I do however want faster response times to correct issues. I think I can speak for every single member when I say that. Who wouldn't want things fixed faster? Point #3 Yes, i do want more representation in Metra. Point #4 "the burdon" We had a full time LC position since I hired out 20 years ago. Not sure how long before that it was established. If the LCA was to split, that would leave the current LCA with just over 200 members. This number represents literally half of what we used to be for membership. If the membership is half then why would the position need to be full time? Every other local across the system operates the same as ours only with a part time local chairman. A part time local chairman would in fact lower expenses below the threshold needed to operate within the new budget. This would also mean that a surplus of cash should be in reserves for when needed.

Fernando, Again thank you for reading the post. Your comment doesn't really reflect that you did but I can assume? You are correct I did want a vote , that is how I was instructed to proceed by the international. I have the emails to prove it. There are always 2 sides to a story. If stating my side is "justifying" then I'm clearly guilty. The local chairman sees value in your contribution to the union. Your opinion is valid, i do not however have to agree with it.

Thomas, thank you for posing legitimate feedback. I can see your point. My question back to you would be: have things changed since then? Do we continue with the "old plan" in spite of those changes. It's my opinion that we need to evolve as the industry and environment does. I do appreciate you taking the time to read the post.

Today I had an ICC inspector? Represent himself as FRA wearing an FRA branded polo and string he was an FRA inspector reviewing licenses at Elburn. Later when he gave me his business card, it showed he was not FRA but with the ICC

The transfer agreements state that all UP/SMART TD Agreements will remain in effect with the exception of the Peer trainer agreement and very specific rules as outlined in the transfer agreement itself. That means your step rate would remain in effect as it does now.

I was told if you remove any single bid, you are disqualified from transferring to Metra. You can remove them all or none. There is no in between. Tom confirmed this with the GCA.
