Commuter Ops

Is there any effort being made to get brakemen back on the crews? Got ordered last night as extra to accompany conductor due to safety concerns about passengers. I saw first hand while the numbers are low, the passengers that ARE riding aren’t your typical commuter. Definitely some shifty characters on board. Day and night trains. We had a medical emergency that turned out to be a false alarm, but had I not been there the conductor would have had to check it out solo. Not safe in my opinion at all. Not sure how anyone else feels about that. I assume the same.

I heard a RUMOR... no brakemen, just a conductor and swingmen, like that one job we had years ago, did the Carrier ever suggest this plan?
