Riding Shoves Mnppr 25th Ave
Was told by UP Spencer that riding Shoves is a mandatory rule regardless of how safe it is. He said that I delayed the Mnppr because I felt safer walking my train than riding it. Train was over 12,000 feet. He said that when I took the job that my requirements were to ride every shove. I guess I'll get removed from service next time because walking is delaying a train and I'd rather make it home to my family rather than derailing on the back of a shove and dying. Hell, I have a better chance of surviving a gun shot wound, I bet whoever gets smashed by a train car dies.

Do whatever you feel safest doing, a manager can't tell you that you whether you feel safe or not.. They don't care about us and will lie on us and replace us to fit their needs... Back in the day utilitymen would watch the 25th shove. Due to train lengths and bad radio reception between the engineer and conductor it's not a safe or smart move. And once a manager starts micromanaging your move it throws your focus off and this of itself causes a safety issue.
