If you are on the pool you need to be AVAILABLE for six day, on the extra board you need to WORK 5 consecutive days. I don’t believe you will be able to see your voluntary days in advance. My previous question was similar to what you’re asking. Waiting for clarification.

Question- What happens if an employee on the pool works/available for 6 days in a row and decides not to observe the voluntary days off? Will they now have 7,8 or 9 days available in a row? Will they be allowed to take 2 voluntary days at any point after the 6th day? Or as soon as they deny the voluntary days off does the counter start again?

Most likely the company will cut the boards drastically. If you hired out after 2020 you should talk to older conductors about how the boards used to be staffed before covid. Called off your rest and constantly hitting fed rest. It’s an ugly truth I believe those with lesss than 5 years need to hear.

Pool- 6 days AVAILABLE, 2 day volunteer rest days. Deduction on guarantee when observing a rest day. Mor than 1 uncompensated layoff, loss of guarantee and bonus day. Extra Board- 5 TRIP/TOURS 1 day volunteer rest. No penalty for observing volunteer rest days. Same guarantee rules. So the extra board has to work trips/tours to get the Smart Rest but they must be consecutive. In my opinion they don’t even get scheduled days off. You can’t plan on when you will work 5 trips to get that 24 hours. This seems very bad. I’m hopeful there is good news in this that I simply am missing.

Will the Carrier hold training prior to bulletins for these new FBY positions for those who are not qualified? If not will employees be able to get FBY qualified afterwards and receive a bump for the position they missed out on?

I don’t remember this being our job. Seems like this should be a task for management and not the yard employees. I don’t believe this is covered under rule 1.47. And if more task are requested of our positions then we would need to negotiate it into a contract. If I am missing something please point it out, I did not look to deeply into it.

Not sure how many times it must be stated that when an extra board is exhausted that the nearest extra board by RAIL MILES is to be called. At which point we need those called to put in a claim “Called in lieu of XB” so that they get compensated and we can prove to the Carrier that they are insufficiently staffing an extra board.

We are losing our rights to freely move between Metra and Freight, which has been part of our seniority and covered service since I hired in 2010. Can we be updated as soon as possible on any new developments to this. Good or bad. Called In Lieu Of Extra Board Claiming one basic day account of having my seniority restricted by the Carrier when they ordered me to work (Assignment#) on (Date) at (Location). I was working (Board, Pool, Etc.) at (Location), which is not assigned to cover (Assignment#). This is a violation of my seniority by forcing me to cover assignments due to the Carrier failing to properly staff the Extra Board
